BBA CERTIFICATE RENEWAL

HERTALAN® have been re-issued with a new BBA certificate which covers our HERTALAN® EASY COVER and HERTALAN® EASY WELD roof waterproofing systems for ballasted, adhered and mechanically fastened applications. The certificate also approves the systems in zero fall applications.

 

The new certificate also approves the use of the unique RhinoBond® mechanical fix system. RhinoBond® is a superior method for mechanically attaching insulation and roofing membranes. It offers higher wind ratings with up to 50% fewer fasteners, up to 20% fewer seams, and zero penetrations.

QUALITY AND REASSURANCE

BBA certification is recognised throughout the construction industry as a symbol of quality and reassurance. It's a vital ingredient for product manufacturers to help ensure acceptance with specifiers, building control, local authorities and insurers.The British Board of Agrément (BBA) is the UK’s major authority offering approval and certification services to manufacturers and installers supplying the construction industry. BBA Certification is recognised by building control, government departments, architects, local authorities, specifiers and industry insurers like the NHBC.

 

For a product to be considered for BBA certification it must reach the strict guidelines set up by the authority and must comply with the following :

 

 factors relating to compliance with Building Regulations where applicable

 factors relating to additional non-regulatory information where applicable

 independently verified technical specification

 assessment criteria and technical investigations

 design considerations / installation guidance

 regular surveillance of production

 formal three-yearly review.

KEY FACTORS

The following key factors have been assessed by the BBA when awarding HERTALAN® EPDM with certification:

Weathertightness — the systems and their joints, when completely sealed and consolidated, will resist the passage of moisture to the interior of the building (see section 6).
Properties in relation to fire — results of tests indicate that the systems will enable a roof to be unrestricted under the Building Regulations
(see section 7).
Resistance to wind uplift — when correctly specified, the systems will resist the effects of any wind suction likely to occur in practice (see section 8). Resistance to foot traffic — the systems will accept, without damage, the limited foot traffic and loads associated with installation and maintenance of     the systems (see section 9).
Durability — under normal service conditions, the systems will provide a durable waterproof covering with a service life of at least 25 years
(see section 11).
