WATER BARRIERS IN FACADES

To ensure the prevention of damage to building structures, it is necessary to install an adequate water barrier. Joints are sealed and waterproofed in facades and buildings to prevent rising damp, condensation and the infiltration of water. EPDM membranes are being used more and more to achieve this purpose. This premium material is used to seal around window and door frames, and also to seal cavity walls (as a sustainable alternative to lead flashings).

USING EPDM TO COMBAT RISING DAMP

NOT ONLY WATERPROOF, BUT ALSO AIRTIGHT

An efficient insulation ensures that, where possible, constructions are built airtight to prevent as much loss of warmth as possible. Gaps and joints must therefore be sealed in full measure. Due to its flexibility, EPDM is the ideal material to seal gaps and joints around window and door frames. It stops draughts, but also prevents damp air from penetrating the joints and the growth of mould.

SUITABLE FOR ALL SUBSTRATES

EPDM has many advantages. For example: EPDM remains flexible, contains no plasticisers, is naturally UV resistant and has a proven lifespan of over 50 years! The fact that EPDM can be adhered to almost any substrate, makes it easy to install. Another unique property of EPDM is its recyclability. EPDM, with its sustainable properties, is the environmentally friendly alternative to sheet lead applications in cavity walls, around window and door frames and around skylights. The product is simple to shape into any form thanks to the aluminium reinforcement. It is remarkable how flexible the material is, and it characterises itself by its ease of installation.
